Get your costumes ready as Halloween is about to be in full effect at the beach! The Town of Ocean City’s OCtoberfest is about to kick off with a few other events along the way, including the Carousel Resorts all new Monster Ice Skating Party!

Located on N. Division Street the Halloween Beach Maze starts OCtoberfest off with two-weekends of fun, October 19-20 and October 26-27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children of all ages can enjoy a pleasant scream as they meander the sands of the giant, bigger and better beach maze! Wicked witches, pirates of the sand, scary scarecrows, ghouls in the graveyard, zombies and more will add to the excitement. The maze includes an eye spy game, with prizes to everyone who makes it out of the maze. Plus, hourly door prizes for the winners of the game. The event is free and open to the public.

Over 200 pets will also gather on N. Division Street on October 19 for the Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade dressed in their best costumes and parade the boardwalk. Dress up your pets and parade the boards or sit back, relax, and cheer for your favorite. Lots of prizes & surprises will be awarded. While the event is free to participate, donation of pet supplies and monetary donations will be collected for the Worcester County Humane Society. They might even have a few furry friends with them that are up for adoption. Registration starts at noon, and the parade starts at 1 p.m.

Following the parade on October 19 is the Drive and Disguise Parade featuring cars decorated for Halloween and ending parked for some Trunk or Treating. Participants will arrive at 26th Street and Baltimore Avenue by 2:45 p.m. to stage for a 3 p.m. departure. Vehicles will parade southward to the amusement pier area where participating cars will line up on the concrete part of the boardwalk North of the pier for an almost immediate start of Trunk or Treat. Prizes will be awarded by the Town of Ocean City for the most unique parade entries.

Trunk or Treat will take place on the boardwalk south of Caroline Street and north of the amusement pier as the Drive in Disguise gets parked and set up. Drive in Disguise participants have the option of participating in this candy and treat give-away. The event is expected to begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. and will last as long as the participants have treats to give – and it goes quickly.

The following weekend on October 26, OCtoberfest will continue with The Great Pumpkin Race located on N. Division Street. Build your own pumpkin race car to bring and compete in this wacky and zany side-by-side downhill race, with lots of room to spare for spectators. Registration starts at noon, and the race starts at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in each division as well as for creativity.

Are you into ghost hunting? This event is not for the faint hearted. A **Paranormal Investigation** will also take place on October 26 starting at 7:30 p.m. with participants gathering at the Ocean City Life Saving Station Museum located at 813 S. Atlantic Ave. Follow along with Dead of Night Paranormal team and experience the spirits that occupy the museum. Dead of Night will conduct their investigation using equipment such as an Electronic Voice Phenomenon recorder and an Electromagnetic Frequency meter to detect and communicate with the supernatural. As you tour from room to room museum staff will tell stories of historic tragedies and paranormal activity that has taken place within this 127-year old Life-Saving Station.

On Sunday, October 27 the Town of Ocean City Recreation & Parks Department annual Halloween Spook-Out Party will take place at the Northside Park Recreation Complex on 125th Street from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Participants of all ages, including parents, will fill the Northside Park gym for carnival games, arts & crafts, hayrides, and snacks. Costume contests will be scheduled throughout the event. Admission is one bag of individually wrapped candy per child. Pre-registration is not required.

Next on October 27 is the Carousel Resort Hotel & Condominium located on 118th Street & Coastal Hwy., all NEW Monster Ice Skating Party! Participants are welcome to come dressed in their costumes and ice skate on the Carousel’s famous ice skating rink with the purchase of a $10 pass. Those who take their costumes to the ice will be entered into a costume contest. Guests can also enjoy free candy, free bounce house, and free fun activities. Wicked food will be available for purchase at the Bistro and Happy Hour specials will be available in the Bamboo Lounge. Barnhill Preserve will also be making a special appearance where will guests will be invited to hold and take pictures with a few of their exotic animal friends for only a $10 sponsorship fee.
